Hello,

Could you please help to give some suggestions?

My question is as below:

In my designation, T4240's serdes interface is connected with a network switch BCM5396? then what attributes should the

serdes interface of T4240 side configure as, serdes or sgmii?

Thanks!

Hello Lunmin,

Thanks a lot for your answer!

On BCM5396 side, the interface can be configured as serdes mode or sgmii mode, and on T4240 side, the serdes interface also

can be set as serdes mode and sgmii mode.

But as my understand, SGMII is a interface between MAC and phy, butthe connection between BCM5396 and T4240 is not the relationship of MAC and phy, but serdes and serdes, so I doubt if I set it as SGMII mode, it will not work.

Thank you!

Hello carl peng,

Serdes could be configured as several Networking protocols, such as XAUI, XFI SGMII, RGMII(LVCMOS pins) and so on, .  But what do you mean by "serdes or sgmii"?

I think you could check the interface type on BCM5396.

Regards

Lunmin
