!EINT3 - what's special about its configuration ??

So, when I configure and initialize EINT3 for a rising trigger, and use its vector (21) as my NVIC handler, still it won't produce joy, and locks the software, because this interrupt seems like it isn't being handled.
I am aware that !EINT3 and GPIO share the same interrupt . ( UM10360, Chapter 6, table 50, page 74).
Does it need to distinguish between the two types of interrupt before continuing ??
Help or a lead are appreciated.
