Hi,

I want to use LPC2129 for my project and wanted to know if i can use LPC xpresso for software development.

Please do reply.

Also, are there any development boards available which can be readily used for development.

Regards,
Suhel

You can't get easier availability than the current range of Xpresso boards.

I am a recent fan boy of the 15xx series and would recommend looking at them.

I am working on CAN, i know this peripheral is available on many other newer parts.

I choose 2129 only because of the easy availability of the development boards.

Please share your thoughts.

I would recommend to use a M3. The best option would be a LPC15xx. It's including 1 CAN channel and CAN bootloader. EEPROM, SWM and modern timers are very useful...

It's available in LQFP48 - LQFP100, so building your own board isn't too difficult...

I echo the comments made by thefallguy. You really should be looking at Cortex-M based parts. These MCUs and boards for them are very widely available, with lots of example code etc.

For example, take a look at the various LPCXpresso boards, details of which can be found at:

Before starting on development using an old part like this, suggest you take a look at this:
http://www.nxp.com/techzones/microcontrollers-techzone/longevity.html

This says the 2129 'longevity' date is 2017-08 - i.e. less than 3 years away...

You might want to consider one of the newer Cortex-M0 or Cortex-M3 parts, depending on your requirements.
