Has anyone profiled speed/memory trade-offs of using 32 bit integers vs. 16 bit or even 8 bit on the LPC1114?

I notice that some of the sample code uses uint8_t instead of 32 in certain cases. Obviously this will save a little memory and the LPC1114 doesn't have a lot to spare.

My personal preference is to use 32 bit in nearly all cases - maybe I should change my habits in this case.
