Hi,

can somebody give me a value for the Power Consumption of a LPC4357. The Microcontroller works with LCD Controller ON, EMC Controller ON, SD/MMC Controller ON, USB Interface ON.

How much is the power consumption or where can I find the value in the datasheet?

Regards

Martin

Hi Holger,

THANK YOU for your hint with the Rev 3.

I had used the Rev 2.1 found by google. Now I'm using the datasheet from NXP.com which is the Rev 3. Now it's all ok :-)

Martin

Hello Martin,

which datasheet revision of the LPC4357 are you using?
Latest is Rev 3. In table 11 you can find values for IDD(REG)(3V3) (75mA @ 204 MHz); in chapter 10.1 there is lots of more information.

Best regards,
Holger

I could solve my problem. The Value for IDD(REG) isn't defined in the 4357 Datasheet, but it is defined in the 4350 DS. I hope that there aren't so big differences between the flashless and flash-based parts.

So the supply current of the LPC435x should be I_supply = I_DD(REG) + I_DD(IO).

For the determination of I_DD(IO) there's a table in the LPC4357 DS (Page 100 and 101) where you can sum the currents for the active peripherals. A Value for IDD(REG) can be found in the LPC4350 DS (Page 89).

So I get a supply current I_supply = 124,5mA with IDD(IO) = 43mA and IDD(REG) = 81,5mA @204MHz.

Please can someone confirm my thoughts?

I think that I need a value for IDD(REG)(3V3). But in the DS there's only a <tbd> (to be defined). Can somebody from NXP Support please give me an approximate value of the supply current for the LPC4357 in Normal Mode??

Martin

Hi Holger,

thanks for your reply :-) The NXP LPC4357-EVB Board needs 0.5A Supply Current, that's similar to your experience. But isn't there any hint in the datasheet or in an appnote what supply current the LPC4357 µC needs with several parts active?

I do have a similar design, except that I don't use USB and the M0 is not running. My total power consumption is 390 mA @ 3.3V. I assume that the power consumption of the LPC4357 and the SDRAM is below 300 mA @ 3.3V (at 204 MHz).

An additional hint: check if you really need the 204 MHz and the M0. I have a rather simple application and even though I use the LCD with emWin, 96 MHz are sufficient. This saves about 30-40 mA @ 3.3V.

Best regards,
Holger
