If you have problems getting OpenOCD to work with SPIFI, and your computer has a Big Endian architecture, such as PowerPC, M68xxx or ARM in Big Endian mode, the trouble might be over soon.

The current HEAD version of OpenOCD (0.8.0) has the Big Endian problems fixed.
Furthermore, the SPIFI flashing problems have been fixed.
The LPC43xx flashing problems have been fixed.

This is tested on a PowerMac G5. To build a PPC version, you'll need to update your autotools, install pkg-config; then you should be able to build OpenOCD without problems.
Eg. if you can't ./bootstrap, update your autotools and make sure you have pkg-config installed.
