Could you please let me know if you could use the I.MX6solo for capturing data from this camera?

https://boundarydevices.com/product/nit6x_5mp/

The following is the expected data rate

resolution: 2592 x 1944

frame rate: 1fps

bitdepth: 10-bits

data rate = 2592 x 1944 x 1/s x 10 bits = 50,388,480 bits/s = 6.3MB/s

If necessary I could use DDR3 RAM, for example I wonder if the NIT6S_SOM in the following link can do the job.

best regards

Hi,

Regarding the question about the Nit6S_SOM, yes it should be sufficient for capturing the image at the rate you mentioned.

However, this estimate doesn't include any conversion you want to make on the RAW image. As you may already know, the IPU doesn't support converting RAW 10-bit format, therefore if you want to convert it to YUV or RGB, it will have to be done in software and this operation can impact the performances.

Gary

Dear Gary,

thank you very much for the answer. I'm happy to hear that I.MX6solo has enough performance for the job. Regarding conversion, I would save RAW image data and analyse it later, since the images will be used in scientific experiment. I need to keep measured values and correct noises and shade later. So it seems fine.

Best regards.
