Dear All,

Hello.

My customer is considering about powering (or earth fault) and earthing (or earth fault) in i.MX6DQ.

Could you tell me the status of the below case?

(Break? Emit smoke? Burning?)

Case.1

Target pin: USB_OTG_DN (B6)

Absolute Maximum Ratings: -0.3 ~ 3.63V

Powering (5V), Earthing(Connect to GND).

Case.2

Target pin: GPIO3_31(H21)

Absolute Maximum Ratings: -0.5 ~ 3.3V(=OVDD+0.3V)

Powering (16V via 47.1KOhm), Earthing(Connect to GND via 47.1KOhm).

Best Regard,

Keita

Q. In this situation, is it possible to lead the Burning (or Emit smoke)?

A. No smoke, I think :-) but the pin may become internally burned out.

Q. Does this functionality return after the non-functionality for the period of short?

A. Yes.

Best Regards,

Artur

Case 1.

The long-term applying of strong external 5V voltage to the USB_OTG_Dx pins will finally lead these pins to permanently lose their functionality.

Shorting these pins to ground will lead to the USB OTG port non-functionality for the period of short.

Case 2.

Connecting a GPIO pin to a high (16V) voltage through a large (47kOhm) impedance will cause a small (about 300uA) additional current through a pad's clamp diodes, but generally will not affect the pin functionality.

Connecting a GPIO pin to GND through 47kOhm impedance does not affect the general pin functionality.

Have a great day,
Artur

This is only a short period isn't it?

Does this functionality return after the non-functionality for the period of short?

Best Regards,

Keita
