I'm working on a var-som-mx6 board with a kernel version 3.0.35. Now I would try to upgrade it to a newer version, for example, using Yocto Dizzy, 3.14.28 kernel version. I find out that with the new version I'll have 4 NAND partition as follows:
0x00000000-0x00200000 : "spl"
0x00200000-0x00400000 : "bootloader"
0x00400000-0x00a00000 : "kernel"
0x00a00000-0x20000000 : "rootfs"
while before I have only 3 partitions (no spl). If I upgrade my NAND writing SPL and u-boot.img via tftp as follows:
tftpboot 0x10800000 SPL
nand erase 0x000000 0x200000
nand write 0x10800000 0x000000 0x200000
tftpboot 0x10800000 u-boot.img
nand erase 0x200000 0x200000
nand write 0x10800000 0x200000 0x200000
it will be ok?
thank you for the attention,
