Hello,

I am trying to utilize an MC9SO8GT16A in a product, and I wanted to know if it is possible to update the firmware via its serial port.

I would like to be able to provide a way to reprogram the device from the computer, but I am not sure if this chip can do so.

Any suggestions would be apprecited.

Hi Kerms,

The short answer is, Yes!

For some longer answers take a look at AN2140 and AN2295.
Also this subject has been discussed here quite a bit, but not very recently.

Hi Peg, Thanks for the info. I am doing my best to read though and try to understand the material there.

First question, is the MC9S08GB60 code compatible with the MC9S08GT16A?

K finished (well mostly) skimming through AN2295 and wow that is exactly what I was looking for!

But... I am lost. Not quite sure how the src names are labeled.

I've used the MC9S08QG8 before, and clearly there is a S08QG folder, but what about the GT16A?

Is that the S08GBGT folder?

Any help would help a lot!

Thank you!

Hi Kerms,

The GT is just a "cut down" version of a GB. The 16 just has less memory than the 60.
The GTxxA is an upgraded version of the GTxx.
Just be wary of what the GT16 lacks compared to the GB60 and use EB671 to be aware of the differences between non-A and A.
Most of the time you don't have to be concerned at all!
I am not sure what you are talking about with the "folders". Codewarrior?
