P1022: kernel 3.8.13-rt9 is very slow in combination with PowerPC programs

Question asked by Christian Zigotzky on Jun 18, 2015

Hi All,

Yesterday I tested the kernel 3.8.13-rt9 and this was successfully. But the problem is, that the kernel 3.8.13-rt9 is very slow in combination with PowerPC programs. PowerPCSPE programs are very fast in opposite to the PowerPC programs with the old kernel 3.8.13-rt9. The kernel 3.18.5 can execute PowerPC programs faster then the old 3.8.13-rt9 kernel.

Could someone explain me why is the 3.8.13-rt9 kernel so slow if PowerPC programs are running? And why is the kernel 3.18.5 so much faster in execution of PowerPC programs then the 3.8.13-rt9. I think there was a patch. But I didn't find this patch.

Rgds,

Christian
