I am using a MCF52223 evb and I am trying to use the UART function so i can connect using one of the three serial ports.  I plan on using this in one of my products but I am new to Freescale.  Can anyone Help me get started.  I am using Codewarrior that came with the evb, but i have not been able to find a book with function definitions and what not so if someone could point me in that direction as well i would be greatful.

Hi Vince

You might like to invest in the following book:
http://forums.freescale.com/freescale/board/message?board.id=CFCOMM&message.id=2986&jump=true#M2986

Also take a look at the uTasker project - see links below. It is free for non-commercial work and includes free support. It contains support for the UART in interrupt driven and DMA mode, supporting XON/XOFF or RTS/CTS flow control. Although it specifically for the M5223X with Ethernet it also runs on the M5222X (a USB stack is being prepared for it too).

The M5222X is also simulated (including UARTs) so most debugging and testing can be performed without hardware, which makes work easier and more efficient.

Thank you.

The link you gave for the book does not work.  I am going to take a look at the Utasker Site thank you again.

Hi

I don't know why the link doesn't work - it must have something to do with the fact that it wraps (?)

You can find the post I tried to link by searching this forum for the authors "Munir Bannoura, R. Bettelheim" and you will  get one match to the post beginning:

Has anybody read or review the book
 "About ColdFire® Microprocessors and Microcontrollers"
by Munir Bannoura, R. Bettelheim, & R Soja from Amt publishing?

Was it worth $96 & shipping?

Wayne
