Hi,

he wrote why he needs one: he wants to run linux, not uClinux.

And, I have to admit that meanwhile I can understand that. I am trying to get my uClinux system running for several weeks now, and there are definitely many problems and disadvantages...
(Seemingly especially in m68knommu, although I do not understand why this is the case as that was the architecture originally bringing uClinux to life. :smileysad: )

Wolfgang

I am writing an article on the cost of MMU vs nonMMU and I need to know the cheapest MMU processor.

Do you know which is motorola's cheapest MMU processor, or might it be Intel or some other?

thanks for any leads.

Hi,

If you want to stay in the 68K world, you can use originals MC68030, 040 and 060, but I don't think that are the cheapest parts.

The MCF54450CVM180 seems to be the cheapest parts with MMU in the 68K architecture

Now you can find the MC9328MX21VM with arm9 architecture

Hi,
68030 used in most older CISCO routers, pretty cheap on Ebay,at least 1 68040 for sale, also on Ebay
if you want to go 68K route.

Best Regards
Ian
