MC9S12DT256, Beginner looking to use I²C.

Hello all,

Basically I am looking to use I2C to control some tuners that I am using. I have read that I can generate an I2C signal basically using the GP I/O's. My question is in the datasheet for the MC9S12DT256 it says "Compatible with I2C Bus standard" is there a way that I initiate this and use?

Or will have I have to generate everything with clock and data using the GP I/O.

Also does anyone know where there are example programs that could help me out?
