The SRTC power consumption and a LiCELL battery life

Dear all,

We use i.MX6 with MMPF0100 for our product.

When an external power supply is not connected, it is described in the datasheet that SRTC-block current consumption is 41uA.

=> Page 30 : http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/data_sheet/IMX6SDLCEC.pdf

For example, when we refer to SDP and use the Li-Cell battery(Panasonic : ML621 - 5mA/h) for RTC, it can keep up RTC only for 122 hours.

* 5mA / 41uA ≒ 121.9hour (≒5.08days)

If this is true, we need to change into the battery of larger capacity.

Is there any way of reducing "41uA" keeping up RTC?

Best Regards,

George

  As for RTC current in SNVS Only mode, the following is footnote for the table in the Datasheet :

"The typical values shown here are for information only and are not guaranteed.

These values are average values measured on a worst-case wafer at 25 C."

So, real values may be less or greater, and - alas - we do not have app note
how to decrease consumption.

Have a great day,
Yuri

Dear Yuri,

Thank you for the quick response.

Are "41uA" Worst-case wafer?

The datasheet of the link which I indicate is described to be typical-case wafer.

=> Page 30 : http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/data_sheet/IMX6SDLCEC.pdf

Please let me know one.

Are 41uA the cases where X'tal is used?

Or is it the case where a ring oscillator is used?

=> Section 4.5.2 / Page 37 : http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/data_sheet/IMX6SDLCEC.pdf

Best Regards,

George

Please look at my comments below.

41 uA is not maximum, in this sense it is not the worst case.

Yes.
