Are there any spare efuses that would be generically available for software usage?  I would like to be able to use some one-time-programmable memory for application specific needs.

Yes, SFP provides a small  fuse storage for exclusive OEM use. Refer to OSPFR register description in your chip manual for details.

From 32 bits(on P4080) to 64 bits (one later chips) are available.
