PEMicro Multilink Universal FX: An invalid preference was passed to the ColdFire GDI protocol

I'm struggling to get a PE Micro Multilinx Universal FX to work with an MCF5484 based board (custom board).  I've verified that the BDM works fine with PROGCFZ.  But when I try to start a debug session using a default ba project, I get the following (see the full log output below).  But everytime I get:

 

"Failed to resume target process."

 

And the details say:

 

Failed to resume target process.

Bad arguments passed to function

 

My searches related to this error all reference OSBDM, but I'm not familiar with that.  And I'm not selecting the OSBDM in the debug setup.  I'm just trying to do some straight-up BDM debugging of a simple C program.

 

I'm using CodeWarrior for MCU 10.6 (Build 140329).  My Multilink Universal FX has the latest firmware (9.26).  And I've installed the latest PEMicro drivers.
