Boot-up options for T4240RDB

Hi,

What boot-up options are supported by T4240RDB, like running u-boot from NOR/alternate bank of NOR/NAND/SD/USB etc?

And what are the steps to flash/copy u-boot on NOR/alternate bank of NOR/NAND/SD/USB?

Is there any documentation covering above questions? I couldn't find in SDK nor on FSL websites?

Thanks,

Fahad

Hi Adrian,

Only one boot method (Boot location: NOR flash) is mentioned on Hardware Configuration page for T4240RDB.

In known issues we have:

SDK-309736 Due to a board limitation, the T4240RDB does not support alternate bank capability which is typical for most boards.

So I'm not sure how can I verify my u-boot without bricking the board?

Thanks,

Fahad

Hi Farad,

SD boot and alternate bank of NOR flash, will be supported in the next SDK release (SDK 1.7 - the release date is later this month). NAND boot is not supported.

Hi Adrian,

SDK 1.7 is available but support for other boot methods for the T4240RDB is still not available. The documentation in U-Boot says there is. The code shows there is not.

Indeed SD boot is not supported in SDK1.7. Now, development team says it will be supported in SDK1.8, but this is not a commitment.

I have a check internally the document for T4240RDB, seems there are not enough information for other boot up option settings, you may contact FAE for special support on this.

You may try CodeWarrior debug of your U-Boot.
