10 Gbit Card on T4240QDS

A 10Gbit Ethernet card was connected to the PCIe slots in T4240QDS board.

The IXGBE and IXGBEF driver configuration was enabled in the kernel, and the boot log showed the MAC of the card.

However, when I assign an IP

          $ ifconfig fm1-mac9 10.6.1.144/24

I get a MDIO bus read error, like:

mdio_bus ffe5fd000: MDIO read error

mdio_bus ffe5fd000: MDIO read error

mdio_bus ffe5fd000: MDIO read error

mdio_bus ffe5fd000: MDIO read error

mdio_bus ffe5fd000: MDIO read error

mdio_bus ffe5fd000: MDIO read error

Are there are any switch settings that I need to modify.

Thanks in advance.

You are saying that the 10G card was added to PCIe slots, but not which card type or which slot.

If it is a PCIe card with a PCIe based 10G NIC, it has nothing to do with FMan based Ethernet and therefore “fm*” style interface names wouldn’t apply.

If it is a FSL card interfacing, e.g., to XAUI lines, then both the slow and RCW setup for the T4240 matter of course.
