boot problem for IMX6 SABRE_SD board

Hi everyone,

I start to use IMX6 SABRE_SD board recently. The original boot is eMMC for android. The DIP switch (SW6) configuration is 1101 0110 (1 is on). The screen (LG LP101WH1) is connected to LVDS1.

Now I want to change to boot linux from a 32G SD card. Command

     sudo dd if=fsl-image-gui-imx6qsabresd-20140118115633.rootfs.sdcard of=/dev/sdb bs=1M && sync

is used to deploy SD image (reference document "Freescale Yocto User’s Guide"). The DIP switch configuration is changed to 0110 0010. LVDS is changed to connect LVDS0. "video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,LDB-XGA,if=RGB666" is set by command
     setenv bootargs_mmc 'setenv bootargs video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,LDB-XGA,if=RGB666'

After booting, there is no display in the screen.

Another question is when I use mmcblk0p2, the system can boot. If using mmcblk0p1 or mmcblk1p2 (In the document “i.MX 6Dual/6Quad SABRE-SD Linux Release Notes”,root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 for "boot from SD"), the boot fails. It seems like that mmcblk0p2 is booting from eMMC.

Anyone know how to solove the problem? Thanks a lot!

Hi Weidong,

Thanks for your reply. It turns out that we need to change ldb_modedb in ldb.c. For LG LP101WH1 TLB!,

     "LDB-LXGA", 60, 1360, 768, 13825,

      80, 48,

      14, 3,

      32, 5,

      0,

      FB_VMODE_NONINTERLACED,

      FB_MODE_IS_DETAILED

Also we need add ldb=dul0 at the end of video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,LDB-XGA,if=RGB666'

Regards,

VJ

Hello, VJ,

From booting log you provided on above, partitions of your SD card is android, Why did you use Yocto images to boot android system ? Linux BSP was released in Yocto ! Not android BSP.

...

mmc1: new high speed DDR MMC card at address 0001

mmcblk1: mmc1:0001 SEM08G 7.39 GiB

mmcblk1boot0: mmc1:0001 SEM08G partition 1 2.00 MiB

mmcblk1boot1: mmc1:0001 SEM08G partition 2 2.00 MiB

mmcblk1: p1 p2 p3 < p5 p6 p7 p8 p9 > p4

mmcblk1boot1: unknown partition table

mmcblk1boot0: unknown partition table

...

Please use fdisk command to re-partition SD card for linux system! Then use dd command to copy images to SD !

----------- I tested booting from SD card , it's no problem, following is what I did ,just an example for you -------

sudo dd if= fsl-image-x11-imx6qsabresd-20140103025526.rootfs.sdcard of=/dev/sdb bs=512
