what i did is

just power on the board,

it booted with default configuration, i did not change anything

it came up with an prompt

logged in to the board with root user

then tried to assign a ip to the board

but no Ethernet interface??

Do you use USDPAA dtb? If so, all the ethernet ports have been assigned to USDPAA, so you cannot see them in Linux Kernel.
