Hi,

I'm using L3.0.35.4.1.0 from Freescale and need to support hdmi audio for a 1280 x 1024 display as part of migrating our product to i.mx6q; how do i go about doing this?

You don't need to do nothing special: HMDI audio is already supported in  Linux 3.0.35 and is registered as an ALSA device.
