MC9S08AC60, strange alternative

Definitely a strange "suggested" alternative to the popular MC9S08AW60 is the phantomatic MC9S08AC60, for which an appropriate Application Note (AN3494) was issued to facilitate "migrating"....

Nowhere in the site there is sign of actual or future existence of this part. A search on this subject finds the cited AN and a "MC9S08AC60CFUE | Orderable Parts | plain" in the S08AW product page where I wasn't able to find any correspondance.

another hit from Freescale

Hello,

The 9S08AC part does receive a mention within the "8-bit Roadmap" document, as being currently "under development".  This document also implies that it will be available in a 42-pin SDIP package.

But I guess don't hold your breath.

Peg, I can't see any difference for the stack frame shown in AN3496, nor can I see that it makes any claim to be "new".  Perhaps you observed something that I missed.

Regards,
Mac

Hi Mac,

I was being sarcastic (as usual)
The drawing has an error.
The arrow that says "SP Before The Interrupt"
points to the wrong place, it should point to the location occupied by PC LOW!

Strictly speaking the frame is the same but the way it is pushed onto the stack is different (if you believe the drawing).

Good Evening Mac, David and Encoder,

I looked and the product does exist. It is quite close to the AW60.
It's possible the roadmap did not mention it because it was requested afterwards or driven by a customer in particular and then offered to the "general" market.

The datasheet seems still under NDA.

Cheers,
Alban.

Hmmm....

Marketing getting the feelers out early?

After you give up trying to find the new part you can read about the new style interrupt stack frame in the other "new" application note. (AN3496 Figure 2)
