Hello,

Would be possible to run CW 10.4 MCU with Softec PK-HCS12E128 board (http://www.softecmicro.com/downloads/doc/pk-hcs12e128_manual.pdf) that always has been run with CW5.1 classic?

Thanks.

Hello PT CAOS,

you can know  CW10.4  supported target from CW10.4 main page:

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=CW-MCU10

according to our internal CW roadmap (until June, 2014), S12(x) is not supported either. (this is internal documet and not in public)

so please stay on CW5.1.

please note, CW5.1 can be installed on 64bit win7 but softech interface can't work for 64bit win7. if you use 64bit win7, please use external P&E BDM multilink as emulator

Does 10.4 support old good S12 including S12E? I think it supports only new S12Z chips. S12Z and S12 CPUs are not compatible.

And how can I know if CW 10.4 MCU supports S12 and S12E chips?

Thank you!!

So I "must" stay on CW 5.1 and, better, in a 32bit win7. If I would use 64bit Win7, where could I find the external P&E BDM multilink you comment?

Hi,

If I'm right you are using Softec board: PK-HCS12E128.

I don't have this board but on my side with demo board based on:

      Mother board:M68EVB912DP256 + Daughter board:MC9s12XDP512

I've installed HC12 V5.1 on win 7 64 bit and created an example project via Project wizard (File ¦ New ...).

Selecting the P&E Multilink interface, I can build the project and launch debugger without problem.

Now I don't have lot of info about the StarterKit.

This is an old one.

Some of Softec board used integrated interface onboard.

The connection with the PC was done with a sample USB cable "USB TO BDM Interface"

According to the info found on the web this is to be the case for this board.

      http://www.softecmicro.com/popup.html?type=picture&title=154','','width=480,height=309

Softech doesn't provide driver supporting Win 7.

there is no way to use this integrate interface with Win 7.

If an onboard BDM connector is available you can use a USB Multilink interface manufatured by P&E.

Have a look to the web:

      http://www.pemicro.com/products/product_processor.cfm

else the solution is to install CW for HC12 V5.1 on Virtual PC.

For details, please have a look to the link:

External P&E BDM multilink as emulator I have found at www.pemicro.com is it: P&E Microcomputer Systems - USB BDM Multilink Cable - USB BDM Interface cable for the 68HC(S)12(X) a...

However, that external multilink is connected between PC via USB and Softec HCS12 board "PK-HCS12E128" via 6-pin connector, but Softec HCS12 not have that 6-pin connector. How can I connect them then?

Thanks.

So it seems youdon't have way to connect the board using P&E Mutlilink cable.

I've checked the http://www.softecmicro.com/downloads/doc/pk-hcs12e128_manual.pdf

Only the USB to BDM interface is available.

The board doesn't have BDM port so you can not use USB Multilink interface.

As explained in my previous email Softec don't provide Win 7 64 bit driver.

You can not use this board under this OS.

The solution is to install Virtual PC which is a XP 32 bit emulation.

you can install HC12 v5.1 on Virtual PC and the board should work.

I've a softec board DEMO9S12SEP100 with USB to BDM interface.

this board is not running to Win 7 64 bit but it's working fine under Virtual PC.

You can get to know the supported targets by CW10.4 from:

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=CW-MCU10

And its service pack:

http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?code=CW_UPDATES_MCU_10_4

Eclipse CodeWarrior will NOT include support for the legacy S12 and S12X derivatives, only S12Z is supported
