CW classic still works with USB tap, but when trying to to connect to USB Tap with CW 10.4, get this error.  I ran the PE micro drivers as well, even ran CCS from the CW install.  No clue what to do next.

Are you installing both CW8,3 and CW10.4 on same PC? They cannot both work well on same PC, because they are using different USBTAP driver. If CW8.3 works with USBTAP, then CW10.4 will not, vice versa.

I found  a workaround:

1)  Update USBTAP driver with the one supplied in CW10.4, please refer to Ankar Kala Post

2)  Backup the CCS  folder under CW8.3, and use this attached one to replace it.

Hi,

I've a MC65F8367EVM board and USBTap rev C.

My Pc is Win 7 32 bit and I'm using MCU v10.4.

with this hardware/software configuration I've created a sample example with the project wizard.

I can debug it without problem.

When I launch the debugger, the application is loaded on board.

Attached you will find the example used.

If it's not running you've may be a driver issue.

Please refer to Ankar Kala post

Regards

Pascal

Hello Steven,

Perhaps you have missed updating the USBTAP drivers while installing CW10.4. you can follow the steps mentioned in the attached file. the same can also be found in the installation folder ('installation path>CW MCU v10.4\MCU\ccs\drivers\usb\readme.txt')
