S08JS series USB bootloader protocol

I develop on and use Linux exclusively so I'm looking for Linux substitute for the BOOTLOADER_GUI (under "Snippets, Boot Code, Headers, Monitors, etc.") that I can use.  Since I'm convinced none exists, I'm interested in the protocol used and information that I can use to write a driver (if needed).  I know there is BDM but I was hoping to avoid that so I can provide firmware updates if needbe.

Thanks.

Hi Gravis,

USBDM provides a GUI bootloader (Linux/Win) for loading the USBDM software into a JS16 using the Freescale bootloader protocol.

It might be a good starting point.

The AN3958 application note describes the Bootloader  protocol (search for AN3958 on the Freescale site).

bye
