Hello All

I bought a CSM-56F801 to evaluate the 56F801 DSC and I cant  have the debug comunicating to the target. Checked in 2 computers , changed cables, tryed all possible options, cutted the CT4 and CT5 according to the manual, aparently the  CCS Plugin try to connect using the parallel port  but with the kit comes a RS-232 Serial port DB9. I also noticed that there are several references in the flyers to an Evaluation board the has the parallel connector. So, I have no clue what to do.

1)What is the setting to establish connection to this Student board??? Where?
2)What are the limitations of the debug running on this target?
3)Did I do a mistake buying this board? What is the purpose for? Only for software simulation?

Thanks!!!

The CSM-56F801 uses a serial interface, as you know. The debugger software, from what you've said, seems to be trying to connect to a parallel port. You need to check your debugger settings, especially the remote debugger settings. Check the end of this thread which describes the fix when the developer experienced similar problems, but with a DSP baord that used a USB interface. HTH.

Thanks for your time.  There is no option for using any serial target on the target  properties window, nothing other than USB ( not this case ) or simulator.

Ok, to confirm: if you check the remote connections panel (reached from edit | preferences > debugger > remote connections) what supported connections do you see? If there isn't a serial connection, you might need to install a driver. Did the board come with a CD that had software on it? If so, check to see if there's a serial driver on the disc that needs to be installed on your computer.
