QG8-use of PTB6 as XTAL o/p

I'm in need of a 32.768kHz clock for an auxilliary chip. Chapter 10 of the data sheet(ICS module) seems to indicate that there is a XTAL signal available at PTB6 which is sourced from the Low Power Oscillator (figure 10-1). Can this be used as a source for the 32.768k clock if the osc is trimmed correctly. The only clock critical issue is a needing 19200 baud for external comms. I can find no reference to XTAL/PTB6 except on this figure.

I'm new to this processor so excuse me if I'm missing something.

Hi Steve,

This signal is only available when using an external crystal and even then there is some contention as to whether it should be used for anything else besides the crystal. See this thread on a similar subject:

Thanks Peg. Just looked at the basic system connections early on in the data sheet. Its obvious from that. just didn't look in the right place. Guess it will have to be an external 32k osc for my aux chip.
