Hello,

I don't know if it's purely coincidental or there's things shared by CW3.1 and CW5.1, but, since I installed CW5.1, CW3.1 works only in demo mode, (I purchased 64K upgrade with USB dongle). License.dat file is present on CW directory. What can I do to make CW3.1 works again?

Emmanuel

Hello

So now I am assuming your V3.1 license file is located in your V3.1 installation root directory and your V5.1 license is located in your V5.1 root installation directory.

If this is correct, just open the System Properties, go to Advance Tab.
Then click on Environment variables and delete environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE.

If this variable does not exist, the tools will look for the license file in their respective root installation directory and you should be safe.
¨
I hope this helps.

Hello

Some question to better understand your environment.
- Which kind of license did you have for CW HC08 V3.1?
- According to my understanding, you have a dongle license for Special edition + 64K compiler for V5.1.
   Am I right?
- Can you check in a DOS Shell how the variable LM_LICENSE_FILE is initialized?
- Can you open the registry editor (type regedit in DOS Shell) and check what is is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager". Do you have a key METROWKS_LICENSE_FILE in there? How is it initialized?

Hi CrasyCat,

I knew that it was a question for you  :smileywink:

- The license was for a Special edition + 64K for CW3.1, and a special edition for CW5.1
I use CW5.1 for new small parts such as s08QG or RS08 family, but I keep CW3.1 for high end part such as s08AW60.
- LM_LICENSE_FILE variable give the path for CW5.1 license.dat
- there's no METROWKS_LICENSE_FILE key in the registry, but I have HIWARE_LICENSE_FILE key maybe because I use an old HC16 hiware compiler.

What can I do?
