Hello,

I could not program/debug a blank QG8 bought from freescale on my own board, via a P&E USB mulitlink, while I could do this on qg8 demo board,DEMO9S08QG8.
so when I need to program/ debug a blank qg8, I first put it on the demo board and program it with any code such as demo code ,put it back on my own board, then  I can debug/program it.
can anybody tell me why?is there a bootloader being downloaded to a blank qg8 on a demo board while it doesn't do the same thing on my own board??

thanks very much
Harry

Hi HarrySun,

There is nothing progammed into a fresh from the factory QG.
The QG has to be handled differently when blank which I believe the demo board assists with.
See this thread about this problem:

Peg,

well said,I appreciate it very much.
on the other hand , I am not convinced that this is  a fully debugged design, for example, why should 0XFF be used as an instruction,STX,X??which makes things worse...
Have a nice day

Hi HarrySun,

The use of this value for this opcode has a heritage stretching back for over 20 years. I doubt they are going to change it now.
