I never used until now any of the last version, but now I have to use it (for some debugging)..
I install CW and when I tried to create a new project the application crash (exit without any message)...this happens on my laptop (Intel Core2 Duo)

I tried on my desktop and there anything work well.(but I need it on my laptop)

So is this an issue or ..bad luck??

I have the same problem, whenever I try to open a file or load a new project CodeWarrior just closes with no explanation. I use HC08 version of Codewarrior and the DSP56800E version and the problem is the same. I have similar setups on 2 different computers running windows xp pro 32bit. I am also running office 2007.
I found that if I uninstall office 2007 both versions of codewarrior work perfectly on both machines. Perhaps there is a bug or conflict in either codewarrior or office relating to a common dialog control dll?

I have the same issue. Although, I am unable to even uninstall Microsoft Office, as I need to maintain outlook open for important e-mails. Does anyone have any work-arounds to this yet?

Hello

Apparently in order to avoid that crash, and if you want to keep Office 2007 :smileywink: you need to change the properties of the IDE.exe.

Right click on IDE.EXE (in window explorer), select Properties, then go to Compatibility tab.
Uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
After this modification it should work correctly.

I did install the trial version of office 2007, but CW is still working, with/without
the Win2000 compatibility.
So I wonder if there is a special setup necessary to reproduce this.
With which versions of XP did this happen? With non English builds? Latest and greatest
service packs? (I guess) Anything else which is special?

Note that the Office 2007 component that causes the problem is Office Groove. Groove 2007 is available as part of some Office distributions (Ultimate, for example) as well as a separate product.

Uninstalling Groove should prevent the problem from happening - there is no need to uninstall the whole Office.

W!O!W!

Thanks! Been looking for a solution for this for a long time now!

My setup is a dual boot between Vista Pro SP1 and XP Pro SP3.

First it was working on my vista and not on my XP. But i didn't

had Office 2007 installed on the Vista.

So recently i installed it on my Vista. And suddenly the CodeWarrior

wasn't working anymore. But i didn't see the link.

So thanks thanks a lot!

My set-up:

Windows XP SP2 - Latest and greatest updates
Office 2007 Pro Full Version with Default setup options, all applications installed.

English versions of all software. Nothing really different about either systems that I have code-warrior running on.

Hi 10x,

You can put that on the bad luck...

Here are a few tips you might already know but I cannot guess your level of expertise :smileywink:

Latest CW uses .msi file = Windows Intaller. I've seen in previous posts that you need a fair amount of free space on the system drive (>1GB free space), even when installing on another drive.

Also, I would advise to try and close all applications and see if CW starts.

Windows troubles like these are difficult to debug... We could try a Remote Assistance via MSN if you have High Speed internet access...

Cheers,
Alban.

There is a lot of space on my hard..
I' ll try with all the other applications closed.

I'm a beginner, but I need CW as a simulator for HC08( a have to to some modifications in SDCC-a free C compiler and I need a simulator-this is for a school project )

I guess it's ok to do some "remote debugging" in order to start CW on my PC ..if is anyone available.

Hello

Are you running Windows XP 64 bit version?
We did not validate the tools on XP 64-bit OS versions

is this about CW for HC08 V5.1? "last ver" will at least once in the future not point to the latest version anymore :smileyhappy:
Also what is crashing? The CW ide (ide.exe), the debugger (hiwave.exe) or even the target app? It sound like it would be the ide.exe, in this case the first thing I would try is to run regserver.bat in the bin folder (run it with bin as current folder).
Is it crashing when you create a new project with the wizard? Does it happen also when you load an existing example project?
Does it create any *.dump files, but I doubt a bit as for such crashes the ide also shows a dialog which apparently does not appear here.
Anything else which is special on this PC? (like extremely long paths, special access rights, or something else which is not the normal setup?)
Is it a clean installation?

if I open one of the sample project (*.mcp) it works..but if i used the start up dialog and try to create a new project ...oouups just close

I can give you sometime(if you'd like to see) VNC access to my PC.. :smileyvery-happy:

Here from the office, vnc does not work because of a firewall we have.
Anyway, did you try to run regserver.bat?
Are you using CW HC08 V5.1?
Does it crash right away, or does it display one or two wizard pages first?
Does it work for another user on this PC?
And right, there is no crash dialog, not from CW and not from Micsofts DR Watson either?

OK, keep us posted.

If you're up for the remote debugging, I can try.
In that case, send me your MSN Live ID via mail and add my address (see profile). I won't accept request if contact not identified beforehand.

It's not a Freescale support procedure, but only me.

Alban.
