As a professional developer, I have schedules that already get pushed back by computer downtime issues, but to have to wait until someone gets back to me in a few days is unacceptable. My computer lost its install of Windows and I had to reinstall everything including Code Warrior. I finally have everything up and running including LabView, SolidWorks, MSOffice, Adobe... everything except CodeWarrior! Other companies have figured out how to send activation codes online or one specific to a computer and user name, but CodeWarrior is sorely lacking in responding to paying customers. At the very least automate the process so that registered customers can get immediate results when requested. If there is a problem, we'll know immediatly, not 3 days after the fact. I'm loosing a lot of productivity because your system is incapable of handling my situation in a timely fashion.

Please respond to my initial license request and install an activation system to address our professional requirements.

Thank you

Looks like nothing has changed... I dont know who is in charge of licensing, but its a mess. Its been a week of stuffing around to try to get my proffesional edition codewarrior 7.1 up and running with MQX...

Support even sent me a license.dat file to get me going with no instructions on how to use that file. I search codewarrior help and it says use the License_Install.txt file found in the root directory of the codewarrior install... thats great, but the file doesnt even exsist.

Why is the license such a pain with this product?!! Every other product I use, I buy, I get a license, I instal, I use. This has been the worst week of development I have ever had, I have done NOTHING.

Hello

I have not much experience with MQX, but a CodeWarrior license.dat must be copied in your CodeWarrior root installation directory (where you initially installed the tool chain).

Now some environment variable or registry entry might interfere with the way the tools are checking license.

Can you please check the following:

  - Is environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE initialized? How?
    To retrieve that information:
      - Open a DOS Command window
      - Enter the command: set LM_LICENSE_FILE
      - What is returned by the system at that point?
  - Check your registry:
       - Open a DOS command window and enter regedit
       - Can you expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager
       - is there a line METROWKS_LICENSE_FILE in there?
         How is it initialized?

This old thread strikes again, arrghh!!!

I just rebuilt a computer, I installed Codewarrior 7.1.1a Patch Build 9 and 7.1.2 Patch Build 8, copied my license file across, and it will not even boot into codewarrior!

So i go back to the original license file, and it loads as normal. So off I go to get a new license file.

I tried the www.freescale.com > myfreescale > codewarrior license > get new license and just like last time and it still doesn’t give you a license file so that’s completely useless. It just stall's for ever, I waited 20 minutes and nothing happened, twice.

I got my License Authorization code and MAC address and entered into Codewarrior > Help > License Authorization... screen, and just like last time still NOTHING, it still says contact license@freescale.com

Last time I contacted License@freescale.com it took 5 days before repeated emails to various departments to get my license because it turns out license@freescale.com doesn’t get checked or something (possibly an excuse for losing the emails I sent, I don’t know).I had to post on the forums to ask what the hell was going on from memory before I got a reply.

So now, here I am again, complaining about the EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM as last time, nothing’s changed from where I sit, I am again waiting for a license key and my project is on complete hold with, my ass is on the line, and I’m completely stuck, I have deadlines, directors to answer to, trade shows to demonstrate products, certification and testing to be complete, you know, normal things which require a compilier.

It’s disappointing to see that after my last complaints NOTHING has changed. Whoever manages this processes needs to realize that people will not pay USD$2000pa for this armature level of product, this is NOT acceptable on any level for a paying customer.

Ohhh, it gets better, now I cannot even lodge a service request, the license section just spits back a heap of errors

Needless to say, we seem to be making a mess of this. I am reporting the problem to the person in charge of the automated system. Also, check your mail: I sent you a stop-gap license.

Carl,

I've just sent you the temporary license (CodeWarrior for ColdFire v7.x). Let us know if there is any problem with the license.

Regarding your permanent license I'd suggest you to create Licensing Service Request since it should be fastest way to contact support in case of licensing issues. Are you still unable to create SR?

As far as I know the License activation options available directly in CodeWarrior IDE doesn't work.

The only option to get the license is via web - "My Freescale" -> "CodeWarrior Licensing" -> "Register Product...".

Did you receive any confirmation email from Freescale that the license has been activated? (Perhaps it was filtered by spam protection) This email includes direct link to download the license file.

According to our records you own Floating license CodeWarrior Suite, the ColdFire license was generated and I'm going to transfer it to you. The license installation procedure is more complex in case of floating license since you have to configure licensing server. I'd suggest you to see attached document for more information.

Stylus,

The only thing I need to have my CodeWarrior running is the license file.
As any sensitive data on a computer, the license.dat file should be backed-up by the user.
This way you are autonomous when your computer is crashing.

As Freescale has both thousands of employees and customers, I doubt that posting on the Forums without any detail will help you.
You could send me a Private Message with a SR# or purchase details.

Regards,
Alban.
