Hi,
may i know if it is possible to establish a connection with Zigbee on the transmission side and bluetooth as the receiver?

The problem is that even if they both work on the 2.4GHz ISM band they use completely different kind of modulation. Frequency hopping over 79 1MHz channels for bluetooth and Direct Sequence for over 16 5MHz channels for Zigbee.

in reading this brings up the question: in a area with an active zigbe network will a bluetooth signal cause interferance?

Yes, a lot.
In my lab my Zigbee network "fight" vs. 3 bluetooth network and I can barely communicate at 1m distance. Comparing to my collegues I can say that zigbee suffer of interference much more than bluetooth does, also speacking with other engeneers they told me of severe decrese in communication when a bluetooth device enter in the area of their network. There are some paper describing coexistence with other protocol (see MC13192 section)
