Is there an emulator for the HCS08AW60 ?

Hi, All:

We are looking to upgrade one of our product lines from the HC08GP32 to the HCS08AW60, but it appears that there is no emulation module for the MMDS08 development system that will emulate the AW60.

Specifically, what I need is an address bus, such that I can trigger my scope on firmware addresses, like I currently do with the GP32 and MMDS (and also on the MMEVS).

Are there any development tools for the AW60 that is not based on BDM?

The reason that there are no hardware emulators for the S08 is that the address and data bus signals are not available on external pins. In the HC08's, there were test modes that connected the internal address and data to the outside world.

This would seem unlikely for devices such as the HC08QT/QY series, with low pin count, yet hardware emulators do exist for them.

I was having the same reservations about my answer as I wrote it. So I asked around this morning after I saw your post. The answer for both of us is that the small pin count HC08's like the QT/QY are emulated using similar, but larger pin count devices. For the Freescale EM board for the MMDS and MMEVS, the QT/QY was originally emulated with a 908EY16.
