I received the CodeWarrior Dongle from Freescale and followed the procedure here:
to install the driver and imtools to read the FLEX ID without success. I have tried on both Windowx XP and 7, both with no luck. The FlexID box simply just blank.
The dongle appears to be a flash drive with size of 10GB, with 5.3GB used .There is only one main folder, labelled CodeWarrior_Supporting_Folders, with sub folders. No flashing LED as described.
I am describing this in detail hoping someone can tell me if this a dongle or just a orniary flash drive. If it is a dongle, what has possibly gone wrong and how do I troubleshoot.
Thanks.
Thanks.
In fact I have already done that just after posting this message. I just thought of getting quick solution, as this seems to be a common problem among the developers.
Latest update from the support team. It seems that the USB thumb drive they shipped out is NOT a dongle, rather just a thumb drive. I am not sure why they do not use CD but thumb drive, which confused me.
Apparently I need to purchase the dongle separately, which costs USD99.
Thanks for the update. I am sorry it took this long to find the real problem. Did they give you a temporary license so that you could work while the problem was being investigated?

Its OK, life is full of unexpectation.
Thanks for reminding me. I have just sent an email to request for extension to my current 30 days evaluation copy, which is coming to the end soon.
By the way, one question. Do I have to uninstall my current evaluation copy before installing the licensed copy? I have to say the installation / uninstallation process was not something I would like to repeat when given a choice.
Hello
No.
For CodeWarrior V10.x just copy your new license.dat file to the {Install}\<TARGET> directory (where {Install} stands for your installation directory).
If you are using CodeWarrior for MCU, the license.dat must be copied in {Install}\MCU.
If you are using CodeWarrior for Power Architecture, the license.dat must be copied in {Install}\PA.
If you are using CodeWarrior for StarCore, the license.dat must be copied in {Install}\SC.
For earlier version of CodeWarrior copy the license file to your installation directory.

Thank you, CrasyCat, for the info.
Received the dongle from Digikey, brilliant. Installed, tested, activated OK. I don't need to extend the evaluation copy, which expired yesterday.
