Getting started with Linux on P4080DS-PB

Hi

I have Linux experience but am new to embedded Linux development.  I want to build a development environment to run Linux on a P4080DS-PB development system.

Where is the best place to look for documentation and training on achieving this please?

Is this the best forum for support in this area?

Does anyone have experience of using a VirtualBox VM for the host development system (which I want to run on Windows)?

If so, which version of VirtualBox do you use and which Linux distro do you run in it?

Best regards

David

Hello David,

You can already consider the stuff provided with your board and contained in the SDK iso.

There is a nice user guide in html, a lot of pdf and some basical stuff like kernel, uboot image and so on.

The user guide explain to you the aim of the rcw and so on.

For the host, I have used a dedicated Linux (RHEL 5) but a recent centos or ubuntu could also fit well.

I can not give you an answer concerning the use of a virtual machine.

Best regards.
