Hello,

so, the problem is this:

in a project we need to program a serial number in the device at production time (possibly).

I explain: the device is produced, the firmware is downloaded in the device with a univocal serial number.

I've googled a little bit but I found nothing? Do you know if there is some tools to do that?

Thanks Bye Giacomo

It used to be I could embed a link to the FAQ in the forums and it would work.

Try this: Go to the upper right of this web page and type "FAQ-28651" into the Enter Keyboard search field. Click on the search button (>>) and you should get the FAQ to appear. As a bonus, you will also get another FAQ that covers the same problem.

Hi,

In our production we enter the serial number after the firmware is uploaded via a software tool. The software tool, communicates via RS232 and sets the serial number variable in the fw. This is then written to the flash memory.

It sounds like an extra stage than you were hoping for but it works ok if you can afford to add that stage.

Cheers,

Fortch

Take a look at FAQ-28651. While the target part is the HCS12(X), the proramming scheme might work for your situation.

Hi,

I can't access the FAQ.

If I click on the link, it gives me a Refine Your Result/Quick Search page...

Ok, thanks, so with the CW Flash Programmer is not possible...it's not a really good thing.

I knew about P&E product, but they don't support the 56F8xxx family...

I have to find another way.
