Hello,

i.MX RT685 have a Audio DSP, but in MIMXRT685-EVK use WM8904 for audio codec,

so why not use RT685 DSP processor as  audio codec?

Does the chip support codec? Audio can be output directly

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

The Cadence Xtensa HiFi 4 Audio DSP engine is a highly optimized audio processor designed especially for efficient execution of audio and voice codecs and pre- and post-processing modules.

What we are implementing in our audio DSP software is the following:

The WM8904 codec receives the audio signal from the player such as MP3 or PC. HiFi continuously receives the PCM signal of codec through one I2S interface, and uses another I2S interface to send PCM signal to codec and playback in real time. Please check the below snippet.

For additional information I recommend you to check the following application notes.

https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN12749.pdf

https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN12762.pdf

I hope this helps.

Have a great day,
Felipe

Hi Felipe,
I find the application note software downloads on the iMX RT600 product webpage, but can't seem to find these — am I looking in the wrong place?
Regards,
Colin
