Which i.MX RT EVKBs have FXOS8700CQ COMBO SENSOR?

Hi All

I have all i.MX RT EVKBs  and noticed that only the MXRT1050-EVKB actually has the FXOS8700CQ COMBO SENSOR mounted on it.

In the circuit diagram of the 1010, 1015 and 1020 the component is marked as DNP, so I expected that it was presumably on only the more expensive boards (1050, 1060 and 1064) and it is indeed not marked as DNP in their circuits.

Also I would expect the 1060 and the most expensive 1064 would have the component placed, especially as it is not marked as DNP in their circuits.

Finally I checked the BOMs in the 1060 and 1064 design files and see that the component is indeed marked as DNP there.

However I wonder whether this is what is intended? If I ordered an expensive MIMXRT1064-EVK for use in developing a product with this sensor after checking the circuit diagram and the link on its web page to the Zephyr project and found the following:

I could imagine being rather annoyed when the board doesn't come with one on it!

Maybe the circuit diagram or the details on the links should be synchronised to avoid such disappointment?

Hello Mark,

I am sorry for my late reply. We have been under a big workload.

I understand your frustrating situation. Unfortunately, MIMXRT1060-EVK and MIMXRT1064-EVK boards do not include FXOS8700CQ sensor. You can order it from one of the NXP authorized distributors on the following link.

I am deeply sorry for the inconveniences this may have cause you. We will try to fix this information to void this unfortunate events.

Best regards,

Felipe

Hi Felipe

It is not a big deal for me since I have the i.MX RT 1050 for testing this sensor/and LPI2C on and also lots of other Kinetis boards that have it.

What surprised me most is that the part is not on the expensive boards, whereas it is on loads of cheap Kinetis boards.

Also the firmware that is delivered on these i.MX RT boards tends to be the "ecompass demo" and it was just sending error messages since the sensor was not mounted, I therefore assumed my board must have been broken until I realised it was intended to not have them there.
