SLN-LOCAL-IOT Flash Memory Selection for MIMXRT106

Hi!

I have seen that in the demo board SLN-LOCAL-IOT, the flash memory that can be used as external memory for the microprocessor can be either an HyperFlash or a simple QSPI Flash Memory.
Since I need to integrate that solution in a custom pcb, I need to know which memory is the preferred option.
For my application I need one "wake word" and five "commands".
Moreover for my application I would prefer to integrate the QSPI Flash memory since i need to low the BOM cost and the consumptions.
Is there any drawback in choosing that memory with respect the HyperFlash? As for example the speed of the memory?

Thanks for your help!

Hello Eleonora,

Any of these two types of memories will work fine along with the RT106L. However, QSPI memories are slower than Hyperflash. But this won't be a problem for your application. You can use the QSPI without problems.
