Minimum BCLK frequency for SAI peripheral on i.MXRT1050

Our question relates to the i.MXRT105x SAI peripheral. The data sheet specifies a minimum SAI_BCLK cycle time of 40ns in SLAVE mode. We are using the SAI peripheral in SLAVE mode and we are inputting BCLK with a SAI_BCLK cycle time of 20ns, which is lower than the datasheet minimum, but it seems to work just fine as we are reading data correctly.

Is it acceptable to apply an external BCLK with a period of 20ns in SLAVE mode ?

We cannot guarantee the correct functionality of the SAI module when it is operated out of spec, so I recommend you to use the BCLK with 40 ns minimum.
