Hello-

I am evaluating a i.MX RT1160 processor (I have the MIMXRT1160-EVK on my desk). I am hoping to be able to load and use Linux on this processor. I looked at the document "i.MX Linux® User's Guide". Section 1.3 lists "Supported hardware SoCs and boards". I do not see the RT family of processors listed there.

Can Linux be utilized on this processor? Do you have any hints on where to go for more information from those who may have accomplished this?

Thanks,

RMG

Hi @RMG ,

RT1160 can't support the standard Linux, as it is still the higher level MCU, not the processor.

But, I find some 3rd part use the ucLinux, this is from the 3rd part:

  https://www.emcraft.com/imxrt1170-evk-board#services

RT1160 is similar to RT1170, if you need ucLinux, you can contact with that company, NXP didn't provide the RT1160 linux related code and support, thanks.

Best Regards,

kerry

Thank you for your reply. The people at emcraft say that they do have a uClinux port, but it is a very minimal Busybox implementation, and no further support is planned.
