Since this forum is heavily used by software/firmware developers, how do you present a "software snippet" inline when you ask a question or present a problem?

1. Expand the tool bar by clicking on the "Expand Toolbar" button

2. Click on "More" drop down and then "Syntax highlighter"

3. Choose the language (eg. C) and type in or paste your code to be shown:

static void fnTest(void)
{
    // do nothing and return
    //
}

@Mark Butcher

I am not seeing the three dots used to expand the tool bar.

This is what I see:

Am I missing something here?

I am using Google Chrome browser, does that make a difference?

Thanks,

This isn't a question related to the IMXRT. A better space/place/list would be this one.

Using Our Community

This "Place" should be easy to find. It should be the first one on the "All Places" list instead of being on the second page. It DOES have its own "Learn more" button on the Home Page, so that's the easiest way to find it.

This question about inserting code has been asked at least 5 times there:

How to insert code into my post?

If the screen is too narrow the toolbar disappears. Could you try zooming in and out?

On my browsers (Chrome and Firefox on Linux) the "@ #" that you see are shown as "@ Mention   # Tag", so the triple-dot isn't the only thing that is missing when you look at it.

I've just tried "Advanced Mode" for this reply as suggested by Kerry. I don't see the "Advanced Mode Toolbar" like he has shown. My toolbar hasn't changed at all. That's in both Chrome and Firefox, so I don't think that problem is on this end.

It almost looks like your browser has cached a very old graphic for the toolbar. You could try clearing whatever cache it has, or forcing a page reload with various combinations of shift/control/alt in case that helps.

I have checked on a second Windows 10 Pro machine running Google Chrome.

What I get is :

ToolBar Snip.JPG

Same as my other machine, no three dots, so I can not get to the Syntax Highlighter.

But Microsoft Edge, both Legacy and new March 2020 version do work as expected.

So, I can switch to Microsoft Edge as a workaround.

The only unusual thing is that it identifies as Chrome Enterprise Edition, which means our corporate IT can set policies, remotely.

But I reviewed the policies, and they really are not doing anything that should affect this display.

Thank you guys for responding, but I know what to do now.

I have additional information.

Windows 10 Pro, Google Chrome browser - can NOT see three trailing dots to get to code insertion.

Windows 10 Pro, Microsoft Edge (Legacy) - can see three trailing dots and can insert code.

Windows 10 Pro, Microsoft Edge (New March 2020) - can see three trailing dots and can insert code.

Must be some kind of security setting or advert suppressor on my installation.

Thanks,
