We currently have a system which is controlling an MDB bus and we are investigating if we can move to NXP chips. Everything is looking great, the only thing I can't seem to find is whether 9bit uart works "out of the box". I've read [link], [link] and [link] but these concern the imx6 series and I am still not 100% sure whether it will work on i.MXRT102x without having to bit bang anything.

Does the NXP chip support 9bit uart on hardware level?

Hello,

The LPUART of the RT1020 family has the following feature: programmable 7-bit, 8-bit, 9-bit, or 10-bit character length. For more information regarding this, refer to section 44.3.6.1 of the RT1020 reference manual.

Regards,
Victor
