header pins for UART on the MIMXRT1170-EVKB

Trying to get the MIMXRT1170-EVKB UART to a serial console via USB. It looks from the schematic as though the only place to attach a UART<->USB bridge is J114/J115.

Sadly, unlike the MIMXRT1170-EVK, those headers look like they're 0.05" pitch (the MIMXRT1170-EVK is 0.1" pitch) which makes finding jumper wires that can connect the EVK to the USB bridge-board a lot harder.

Is there anywhere else I can attach 0.1" jumper wires to, so I can connect the USB UART bridge-board ?

Thank you Kerry, I'll look into that.

I've been struggling to get a C++ / FreeRTOS / FAT-on-SD build working for several days, but I'll make a separate post for that question...

Hi @simongornall ,

Thank you for your interest in the NXP MIMXRT product, I would like to provide service for you.

Do you must to use the GPIO_AD_24 and GPIO_AD_25 as the UART pin in the MIMXRT1170-EVKB board? If yes, I think you can use the on board VCOM directly. As just the J114/J115 to fan out the signal.

If you don't want to use the J114, J115, I think you can consider other UART pin, as RT1170 can support a lot of UARTs, but if you want to use the serial download mode UART, you still need to use J114, J115, you can find some 0.05pitch wire to connect it.

You may find the other UART, then let the pins connect to the 0.1pitch, then you can connect your external USB to UART tools.

Wish it helps you!

Best Regards,

kerry
