RT1176 FlexSPI QSPI Flash Error

I have a custom pcb that uses the automotive variant of the RT1176. I am trying to get a successful read data out on the flexspi_nor_polling_transfer_cm7 sdk example. I am using the W25Q512JV Flash, which is nearly equivalent to the flash as seen on the RT1170 eval board, but instead uses 3.3V. I have set my flash VCC and powered NVCC_SD2 with 3.3V to accommodate this. My pinout is copied from the evaluation board schematic, and I have tested each connection individually by toggling the GPIO peripheral attached to the FlexSPI1 pins. I already tried lowering the .serialClkFreq in evkbmimxrt1170_flexspi_nor_config.c and still no luck.

I am unsure why the flexspi_nor_polling_transfer_cm7 code reads successfully on my RT1170 evaluation board, but not on my custom board, as they are nearly identical with the only differences being the ones listed above.

On my custom board, the program always fails on "Program data - read out data value incorrect!".


Any ideas on what I may have wrong? Or ideas to better debug my issue? Thank you.

I´m facing nearly the same problems with a i.MXRT1021 and W25Q64JV flash. Stuck at the same point of ...nor_polling... example. Were you able to find a solution for described problem? What does it look like?

Hi,

I never figured out the nor polling example issue - thought I did eventually discover that in addition to the unofficial MCU Boot Utility tool, NXP has a newer SPT (Secure Provisioning Tool) that I was able to use to flash my rt1176 via UART (make sure to use the uart or usb interface that the datasheet specifies for boot loading). SPT has default fcb (flash configuration block) for common flashes (I believe it has one for the W25Q64JV).

I only have one EVKB on hand so I'd rather not rework the board as lead times on the EVKB are quite long and I need it for other dev work. Since my original post, I found the W25Q512JV does not have the 0xC0 command used on the W25Q512NW model. I attempted making multiple different modifications to the flexspi polling example as different commands can be used for the JV model, and no luck. All changes resulted in the exact same output. I suspect it is not a hardware issue as all read values seem to be correct except for the missing starting 000.

I found that the mismatch appears to be off by one byte. I have decreased the clock frequency and increased dummy cycles but this has not resolved the issue. Any ideas as to what else may fix this? Thanks

May I understand your custom board is just the same as RT1170EVKB, but use 3V3 on FLASH_VCC?

If you have RT1170EVKB, did you try to replace the flash chip with W25Q512JV and test it with the flexspi polling demo? Did it work ?
