RT1020 SW8[3:4] internal boot vs serial downloader mode

I'd like to have the same functionalities of SW8 on RT1020 EVK board; specifically the serial downloader (by setting SW8[3:4]=b01) mode can be used for manufacturing FW loading for 2nd bootloader + application + any data... via RAM flashloader spdhost & blhost utils. Then setting SW8[3:4] = b10 to continue XIP on flexspi flash.

If my custom board won't have the physical SW8 & its manual switching due to manufacturing procedure complication, what alternative could you suggest so that I can accomplish: loading the initial FW modules on external flexspi flash -> reset -> and boot XIP?

-- Frankly, I'm not familiar with the programming solution in the assembly phase, as I know, some OEMs can program the QSPI or other Serial Nor flash offline.
So I'd like to suggest you contact the local DFAE or FAE, they can provide some suggestions for you.

It turned out there's a text in Reference manual that resolved the issue, where internal boot ROM will revert to Serial Downloader mode if external flash is empty or invalid.
