Hi

I want to design our own board with i.MX RT1064.

We have MIMXRT1064-EVK and LPC-LINK2(OM13054).

And I have some question.

1.Is possible to use LPC-LINK2 with MCUExpresso to debug and download program to the internal flash?

2.Can substitute LPC-LINK2 for J-Link?

Hi allen_tseng,

1.Is possible to use LPC-LINK2 with MCUExpresso to debug and download program to the internal flash?

Answer:

Yes, you can!

Please check the LPC-LINK2 webpage:

https://www.nxp.com/design/microcontrollers-developer-resources/lpc-microcontroller-utilities/lpc-li...

You can find it can support the MIMXRT1060.

When you use the JLINK firmware, please refer to this link:

https://www.segger.com/products/debug-probes/j-link/models/other-j-links/lpc-link-2/

You need to update firmware from image.

This is my log:

This is the MCUXPreso IDE debug with the LPC-LINK2 JLINK firmware:

2.Can substitute LPC-LINK2 for J-Link?

Note the information from the Segger side about the LPC-LINK2:

SEGGER created a firmware which runs on the NXP LPC-Link 2, making it J-Link compatible. In order to make use of this firmware, the following Terms Of Use must be accepted:

  • The firmware is only to be used with NXP target devices. Using it with other devices is prohibited and illegal.
  • The firmware is for use with evaluation boards only. It is not for use with custom hardware.
  • The firmware may only be used for development and/or evaluation purposes. It may not be used for production purposes.
  • The firmware is made available without any warranty and without support.

Wish it helps you!

Best Regards,

Kerry

hi allen,

1. Yes, It's possible  LPC-LINK2 with MCUXpresso to debug and download program to the internal flash.

2. Also use LPC-LINK2 instead of J-Link.

Hi kalaimani

Thanks for your reply.

1.But this page's table of supported devices, doesn't find i.MX RT1064.

So I ask the question, are you sure LPC-LINK2 can download program to i.MX RT1064's internal flash?

If yes, when i using LPC-LINK2, which boot mode I have to configure?

Thanks for your help.

This doc is a little old:

https://mcuoneclipse.com/2019/06/03/swo-with-nxp-i-mx-rt1064-evk-board/

This doc actually shows what jumpers to modify:

https://support.cranksoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041660892-How-to-enable-performance-and-debug...

I've done this on my 1060evk and it works great, however, sometimes after flashing the debugger errors out and I just have to restart it.
