IMXRT1166 custom board : Failed to power up DAP, no connect

We are doing a custom board based on MIMXRT1160-EVK.

All GPIO banks including SNVS LDO's are 3V3 supplied. SNVS supplied by LDO_SNVS's. Vdd_USB_1P8 and VDD_MIPI_1P8 are left unconnected for the time being.

Populated the board with recommended decoupling capacitors, W25Q64JV NOR Flash, 24Mhz and 32.768kHz crystals, boot configuration resistors. Powered up, found DC DC converter generating 1V and 1V8. Connected JTAG header, MCU-link-pro failed to connect with "Failed to power up DAP".

Now, learnt that, the default mode is SWD, for which POR_B is to be connected to the header. This unfortunately is not done and POR_B remains pin unconnected to any external network. We are stuck. The project requires as large number of analog input and complementary PWM channels, would rarely require resetting (we mixed up with this bad logic).

Thought using MCU boot utility to burn the required fuse for SWD to JTAG. Tried to connect UART1 through MCU-link-pro vcom port. But, could not connect to the target with blank response on the console (tried with both boot_mode = 01 and 10 to remove confusion).

Tried with JLink configuration, MCU-link-pro failed to connect with "Failed to power up DAP".

Is there any way to recover? We are planning to give usb connection to MCU boot utility a try.

Is the mcu dead? How can we check this point?

Please help.

Further addition:

We found out that the DC DC converter is working good. All other LDO's are working, but VDD_SNVS_DIG is 0V.

The VDD_SNVS_ANA is working. Thus, LDO_SNVS_DIG should also work to generate VDD_SNVS_DIG.

What can be the reason for 0V on VDD_SNVS_DIG?

Besides the connections and considerations listed in the Hardware Development Guide, it is important to check that the power-up sequence is followed.
Not complying with this sequence may result in not booting the device.

We suggest the use of an external IC to control POR_b to assure that it remains asserted during the power-up sequence.
If it is unconnected, the device takes control of POR_b however we still suggest having an external IC so we are completely sure that it remained asserted.

Best regards,
Omar
