Hi there,

I am looking to choose a 24 MHz crystal for the MIMXRT1064 that satisfies all of the requirements laid out in the Hardware Development Guide (MIMXRT105060HDUG).

In the guide, the following recommendation is provided:

"For the precision 24-MHz oscillator, connect a
fundamental-mode crystal between XTALI and XTALO.
An typical 80 ESR crystal rated for a maximum drive
level of 250 μW is acceptable.
Alternately, a typical 50 ESR crystal rated for a
maximum drive level of 200 μW may be used. It is
recommended to use a crystal with ESR<80 Ohm and
CL<= 12 pF for startup."

I have had difficulty finding crystals with max drive levels above 250 uW. But I have identified several that meet the 200 uW maximum.

Can you please confirm that the following P/N from TXC Corporation is an appropriate choice?

7M-24.000MAHV-T

Thank you!

Hi Gavin,

Thanks for the quick reply! I had seen the XRCGB24M000F2P91R0 recommendation from other forum posts, but I noticed that Murata specifies that that crystal should not be washed.

Per your advice, it looks like the crystal I listed above (7M-24.000MAHV-T) should work. It has the following parameters:

Frequency: 24 MHz +/- 30 ppm
Load Capacitance: 8 pF
Drive Level: 1-200 uW
ESR: 50 Ohm

We'll plan on using this crystal. Thank you!

Hi @jordan_ripple ,

Thanks for your interest in NXP MIMXRT series!

Regarding the crystal used in the EVK, it is this model: XRCGB24M000F2P91R0

And the spec of this crystal is attached for you to check out. The easiest way is to use the same crystal in your design.

Also,  for the precision 24-MHz oscillator, connect a fundamental-mode crystal between XTALI and XTALO.
An typical 80 ESR crystal rated for a maximum drive level of 250 μW is acceptable.
Alternately, a typical 50 ESR crystal rated for a maximum drive level of 200 μW may be used. It is recommended to use a crystal with ESR<80 Ohm and
CL<= 12 pF for startup.

RT10xx: ESR<80, CL<12pF

About the 100uW crystal, customer need to calculate the DL to make sure it doesn't exceed DL limitation.

Best regards,
Gavin
